Arasimowicz, Sylvester - 50th Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Arasimowicz will repeat the marriage vows made by them 50 years ago at the 7:30 a.m. mass tomorrow at Our Lady of Grace Church. The Rev. William P. Loftus, pastor, will be celebrant.
The couple presided at a reception and buffet luncheon yesterday at the Harbor to mark the occasion. Two hundred guests were present, 30 from New Britain, New London and Hartford. An orchestra furnished music for dancing.
A centertable for the family was bordered with gilted laurel leaves, gold candles, gold-colored gladioli and pompons held a three-tier anniversary cake. Vases of garden flowers added a contrast to the colorful arrangements. A 50th anniversary greeting placed above the fireplace formed a background setting for the receiving line. Mrs. Arasimowicz wore a mauve lace dress over satin, to which she pinned an orchid corsage.
Mr. and Mrs. Arasimowicz were born in Wilno, Poland. They arrived in 1906 and were married at Sacred Heard Church there Aug. 13, 1907. Coming to the island in 1917, Arasimowicz worked as a carpenter at Fort H. G. Wright until 1934. Subsequently, he became the greenskeeper of the golf courses, employed by the Fishers Island Country Club and the Hay Harbor Golf Club until retirement. Arasimowicz is a life member of the Fishers Island Fire Dept.
Seven children have blessed their marriage - four sons, William, John, Theodore and Edward, and three daughters, Mrs. Sophie Paquette, Mrs. Ann Wall and Mrs. Melinia Zito. One son lives in Verden, Canada and the remaining children live on the island. There are 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The couple has the distinction of being the first Polish family to settle on the island.
A flood of congratulatory messages were received by the couple. They were the recipients of many gifts.
