    • (This is an obituary from Margaret's Sister (July 1, 2003)):
      Sister M. Edmund Russian, 86, of the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, died at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday (July 1, 2003) at St. Francis Convent, Springfield, Ill.
      Sister M. Edmund, the former Emma Josephine Russian, was born in Westville, Ill., on Aug. 23, 1916, the daughter of John and Mary Rigo Russian. She entered the Congregation on Sept. 8, 1939, and professed her religious vows on June 13, 1942.
      Sister was a 1947 graduate of St. John's Hospital School of Nursing. She served the Community as a registered nurse at hospitals in Illinois, Wisconsin and Arizona. From 1976-1986, Sister was the sacristan at St. Francis of Assisi Church at the Motherhouse. She retired from active duty due to failing health in 1986.
      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Russian, and two sisters, Mary Louise Russian and Margaret Majercin.
