  John J. Elder was born December 31, 1887 in Brooklyn (I have his baptismal record from Most Holy Trinity R.C.), and the last I find of him is the 1920 census when he is living with his family on St. John's Place in Brooklyn. He is unmarried at that time. Even though you say he married Eleanor about 1925, I find Eleanor Clemente, 40 years old and still 'single' living at 1099 Lincoln Road, Brooklyn, and she is the 'head of the family', consisting of herself and sisters Grace (33), Edith (37),May (35) and brother Emanuel (23). I have not been able to locate him for certain in the 1930 census. They must have married after 1930. I do find an index for a John J. Elder (no age) marrying in NYC on January 21, 1934, but since I haven't sent for the actual certificate yet, I won't know if this is him, or not, until I send for the certificate. According to the SSDI, John Elder died October, l975, with East Rockaway as his last official residence. Eleanor Elder died October, 1974, same place. Madeline Bovery Galbraith
