Gaydos, 77, of Rhinelander, Wis., formerly of Streator, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2004 in Rhinelander. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen?s Church. Monsignor Jerome Ham will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Paula Rosenbaum, organist, accompanying JoAnn Cave, soloist. Burial will be in St. Stephen?s Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Kenneth, Raymond and Frank Gaydos Jr., and Kevin, Daniel and Ronald Elias Jr. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post #217 and Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1492 including honor guard, firing squad, playing of taps and flag folding. Visitation will be held from 9-10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Solon, Baker & Telford Funeral Home. Born Feb. 2, 1927, in Streator, he was the son of John J. and Margaret (Majerchin) Gaydos. He married Dorothy Brace on June 25, 1975, in Ottawa. She survives in Pontiac. Also surviving are a daughter, Theresa (Mrs. Luis) Gaydos-Diaz of Pontiac; sons, Fred Gaydos of Streator, Stephen (Beverly) Gaydos Jr. of Alabama, and Robert Gaydos of California; stepdaughters, June Arduini of Pontiac and Wendy (Mrs. Randy) Nash of Metamora; a stepson, Robert Brace of Pontiac; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise (Mrs. Ronald) Elias and Helen Gaydos, both of Streator; brothers, Frank Gaydos and George (Barbara) Gaydos, both of Streator; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cheryl Gaydos; a brother, John Gaydos II; and sisters, Delores Gaydos and Mary Ann Brewer. He attended St. Stephen?s Grade School and Streator High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II, stationed in both the Philippines and Korea. He worked at Anthony Company in the tool and die department. He later worked for Interlake Steel in Pontiac, where he retired from. He was a member of St. Stephen?s Church.
