Obituary for Dale R. Spencer
Dale R. Spencer (1927-2007)
STREATOR -- Dale R. "Red" Spencer, 80, of Streator, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 23, at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Streator with the Rev. Brian Brownsey officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery search_small with military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hagi Funeral Home in Streator with a rosary at 4 p.m.
Mr. Spencer was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Streator, to Orson and Minnie (Castetter) Spencer. He married Mary Ann Mayerchin on June 6, 1953, at St. Stephen's Church.
He retired from GE Plastics in 1991.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Monsignor George Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council 790, Moose Lodge 372, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492, all of Streator, and the GE Retirement Club.
He served in the Army Air Corps 20th Airborne Division during World War II in the Pacific. He attended Streator Township High School.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mary Lynn (Dan) Breeden of Streator and Cheryl (Jim) Redman of Leander, Texas; one son, Dale A. (Kimberly) of Marseilles; six grandchildren, Stephanie Orozco, Brooke and Drew Spencer, Jacob Vickers and Aaron and Austin Redman; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mabel Guy, Hazel Brownsey, Florence Elias and Audrey Spencer; two brothers, Arthur and John Spencer; and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Vickers, Drew and Jack Spencer, Austin Redman, Keith, Dean and Kenneth Brownsey and Dan Breeden.
Memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Church or the American Heart Association.
