(1931 - 2009) Obituary for Frank S. Gaydos STREATOR ? Frank S. Gaydos Sr., 77, of Streator, died at 6:32 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen's Church, Streator. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Frankie, Brett, Kenny and Raymond Gaydos and Kevin and Ron Elias. Frank was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Streator. He was the son of John and Margaret (Majerchin) Gaydos. He is survived by one son, Frank S. (Cathy Jackson) Gaydos Jr. of Streator; grandchildren, Amy, Frankie, Brett and Taylor Gaydos, all of Streator; a great-grandson, Alexander Calkins of Streator; sisters, Louise Elias and Helen Gaydos, both of Streator; a brother, George (Barbara) Gaydos of Streator; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Gaydos, and brother-in-law, Raymond Brewer, both of Streator. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Steve Gaydos; sisters, Delores Gaydos and Mary Ann Brewer; and one brother-in-law, Ronald "Sody" Elias. Born and raised in Streator, he attended Streator schools. He worked for Anthony Lift Gate for many years and later worked for the City of Streator as a park policeman. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church, Streator Eagles Club and the Knights of Columbus. Frank was a lifelong musician who loved to play guitar and write songs. He also loved to fish and garden. Most of all, Frank loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted father, brother, grandfather and friend.
