Joseph Kacmar, 90, of rural Danville, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center.
He was born June 16, 1916, in Streator, Ill., a son of Michael and Anna Ondehcko Kacmar. He married Viola Skinner in January 1939 at Covington, Ind. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, JoAnna (Don) Mayoras of Lebanon, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Tyler (Sasha) Mayoras, and Stacie Mayoras; and two great-grandchildren, Isabel and Olivia Mayoras. He was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Mr. Kacmar retired from Illinois Power Company. He was a labor representative for IBEW in Springfield for two years. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Bismarck. He enjoyed playing bridge, working in his yard and playing softball. He played for the Illinois Power Company Softball Team and later for the ?Old Timers? Team. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany during WW II.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at Northside Church of Christ, 17167 E 2750 North Road in Bismarck with Jimmy Hodges officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the church. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association or Northside Church of Christ. Brown-Alkire Funeral Home in Hoopeston is in charge of arrangements.
