Mary Marcelline Urbance 1924-2013

STREATOR - Mary Marcelline Urbance, 88, of Streator, died at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be David and Vernon Parker, Bob Muntz, Glen Hepner, Jim Muhlstadt and William Darrow. Honorary pallbearers will be Anna Urbance and Rosie Darrow.

Born Aug. 16, 1924, in Streator, she was the daughter of John and Theresa (Majercin) Hudak. She married John W. "Jack" Urbance on June 22, 1948, at St. Stephen's Church. He passed away Jan. 1, 2011.

Surviving are daughters, Mary (William) Darrow and Jeanne Urbance, both of Streator; sons, John (Lisa Nagler) Urbance, of Battle Creek, Mich., and Ronald Urbance, of Streator; grandchildren, William Darrow, Rosie Darrow and Anna Urbance; sisters, Theresa Ann Parker, of Bradley, and Jeanne Gehm, of Ames, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Florence Urbance, of Ottawa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Born and raised in Streator, Mary attended St. Stephen's Grade School and graduated from Streator Township High School.

She worked at Citizens Loan and Finance Company in Streator.

She owned and operated Jo Ann's Apparel Shop in Streator until her retirement in 1987.

She was a former member of St. Stephen's Church and currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church.
