Joe was my father's best friend for many years; the two of them were the greatest sources of support for one another and truly demonstrated Martin Marty's quotation, "What a Jesus we have in a friend." Joe was one of the most wonderful, kind and creative (he thought up the story that fooled my father for his retirement party) person anyone could ever know.
