Belgrade, Mont. - John Zito, 71, born Sept. 14, 1946, passed away July 19, 2018, after a battle with colon cancer. He was the son of Melen Arasimowicz Zito and the late John Zito.

In his retirement, John moved to Belgrade, Mont., to be close to his daughter, Meredith and her husband, Ben and daughters, Allison and Emma. His son, Christopher and wife, Ali and daughter, Oliva lived only a short ride away in Renton, Wash. He wanted to watch his grandchildren grow as his family was always his priority and his favorite moments were those spent with his grandchildren. John was gregarious and always had a story to tell a new friend.

While most of his adult life was spent on the west coast, his childhood home on Fishers Island was never far from his heart. He made sure that his family out west never lost contact with his family in Connecticut.

He was very much loved by family and friends and will be forever remembered as a kind and loving son, father and grandfather. Beside his mother, son and daughter, he leaves behind his brother, Frank and his wife, Cathy and their children and spouses, and sister, Mary Anne Zito Alfieri, all of Waterford. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Tony Alfieri.
