1930-2017
Passed away at Mountain View Regional Hospital in Las Cruces, NM, on December 16, 2017, after a long illness. His loving wife, Judy (Hicks) Welch, was at his bedside. Carroll was born in Norfield, MS, on Feb. 14, 1930.
He is survived by one brother, Bill Welch, and many nieces and nephews. He has left behind his grieving wife Judy and two children: Stephen R. Welch (wife Rashmi) and Kristina N. (Welch) Morris (husband Jim Morris). Four grandchildren: Kenneth Welch, Kyle Welch, Peyton Kokaly, and Jerid (Welch) Sapp.
Carroll served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1949, 19th Bomber Group, stationed on Guam as a radar repairman. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
He and Judy were married for 58 years. In 1996 they moved from La Veta Colorado to Deming New Mexico, where they pursued their retirement dream of volunteer avocational archaeology.
