Bertrand M. Rathier, 87, a lifelong Smithfield resident, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Mary E. (Tibbetts) Rathier. Born in Carmel, Canada, a son of the late Joseph and Nellie (Robitaille) Rathier. Mr. Rathier worked in construction for many years before retiring and was a member of the laborers union local #271. He was an army veteran of WWII and Korea. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Ann M., Michael B. and Robert A. Rathier. He was the loving grandfather of 8.

Visitation Wednesday September 28, 2011 in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville 4-7PM, followed by a funeral service at 7PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated.
