Marlene (Mayerchin) Adams (1933-2008)

STREATOR -- Marlene M. Adams, 74, of 307 Palmer St., Streator, died Friday evening, Feb. 29, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Streator. Monsignor Jerome Ham will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Dale, Larry, Don and Bill Adams, Shannon Bever, Ed Mollo and Nick McFadden. Solon, Baker & Telford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends for a luncheon following the services at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Streator.

Born July 22, 1933, in Streator, she was the daughter of Steve and Margaret (Sauers) Mayerchin. She married Richard J. "Dick" Adams on May 9, 1953, at St. Anthony's in Streator. He died March 26, 2007.

She is survived by a daughter, Peggy (Jerry) Miller of Streator, and a son, Michael (Maria) Adams of Streator; granchildren, Jeremy (Jessica) and Michael Adams and Justin and Jessica Miller; sisters, Sandy (Ron) Shirley of Williamsburg, Va., and Debra Cassidy of Greensboro, N.C.; and a brother, Gary (Mary) Mayerchin of Ladd.

Born and raised in Streator, she attended Streator schools and graduated from Streator Township High School.

She worked for Streator Home Building and Loan for more than 45 years. She became operating manager and member of the board of directors in 1997. She retired in January 2007. She was a member of St. Anthony Church, Streator.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Church.
