Virginia Ruth Majercin (1923-2006)

STREATOR - Virginia Ruth Majercin, 82, of Streator, died Saturday morning, Feb. 4,2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at Winterrowd Funeral Home in Streator with Monsignor John Prendergast officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Streator. Visitation will be two hours prior to services.

Mrs. Majercin was born Dec. 15, 1923, in Long Point, to Ernest and Anna L. (Wolff) Oldenburg. She married Rudolph Majercin on Sept. 20, 1943. He died June 16, 1994.

She was retired from Thatchers Glass and was a member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge in Streator and St. Stephen's Church. She graduated from Ottawa Township High School.

She is survived by a son, Rudy of Streator; three sisters, Anne Irwin and Gladys (Charles) Whitmore, both of Ottawa, and Jane (Maurice) Carrigan of Springfield; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert Evans; a son, Richard; a sister, Donna Dreesen; and a brother, Lloyd Oldenburg.
